The definition of leverage:
- – The ability to influence a system, or an environment, in a way that multiplies the outcome of one’s efforts without a corresponding increase in the consumption of resources. In other words, leverage is the advantageous condition of having a relatively small amount of cost yield a relatively high level of returns. - – To use (a quality, relationship, or advantage) to obtain a desired effect or result. (Google’s definition)
Applying this definition to one’s membership in the GIVENT Executive Network, would mean to say that you can utilize the relationships you build to multiply the outcomes of effort without increasing the costs in both time and money involved.
Knowing how to leverage relationships will make your time spent networking all worth it. It should be understood, the first step is to build trust. This takes time and a willingness to give and serve when you can. I ran across a formula years ago, that I have since labeled the “Give & Receive” Formula, where giving = receiving (squared) or G=R2.
If one wishes to receive, then they must remember their duty or responsibility begins with being the giver. The “Formula” sums it all up: Focus on what you can control, Build Relationships & Serve, and the rest will take care of itself. Proving that it really is better to give than receive!
Once a foundation of “Giving and Serving” are in place, the next step to leveraging the relationships you’ve spent time and money building is to “Get Specific” by using the power of words to change the results. What do we mean by this? There is power in the words we use: “What we say”, and “How we say them”. The Power of Words can and do make a difference, no matter what the circumstances.
Let’s remember, we get what we seek. So it’s very important to define what we WANT. It may seem counterintuitive to narrow our search and limit what we seek by getting specific, yet, this very focus helps us best communicate our intention. There is something to pinning it down that enables people to relate. When others relate, they connect with you, and that’s when you’ll start to see improved results.
Want to discover new speeds? Want to go FASTER? Then GIVE to and SERVE others first, then GET SPECIFIC in the things you want and share these specifics with others. Use the power of words to help you convey your needs or wants.
If you’ve built your foundation first, the results will come, and you will be amazed at how this works, and how easy it was to do. Leverage is a beautiful thing.
