20 Dec Giving
The Holiday Season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s is filled with a flurry of activities for everyone it seems. And this is especially true for executive decision makers that are also working on year end business dealings that have to be done. In the middle of all the hustle bustle we can feel the joy and happiness that comes from doing for, and giving to, others that have a greater need than our own.
Giving is one of my most favorite topics because I believe the principles and values that surround it are closely tied to many of the other good things that happen in our lives. When we focus on others the law of reciprocity becomes our ally. I know you already know this, but it’s good to be reminded as well. Here are a few quotes I shared at our December event:
“You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.” C.G. Jung
“We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” Winston S. Churchill
“One must be poor to know the luxury of giving.” George Eliot
See first that you yourself deserve to be a giver, & an instrument of giving. For in truth it is life that gives unto life – while you, who deem yourself a giver, is but a witness.” Kahlil Gibran
“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” Pablo Picasso
Because Giving is a “universal language” it can be easily translated and interpreted in any culture. Below are the links to videos shared at the event. We used only a portion of each.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
