Is Family Important to You?
When you look back on the last 15 years, and then look forward to the next 15 yrs, might you also ask if these years will race by as well? Where do you find your purpose in life? Most of us would say our family, but how do we show them their importance in our life?
Daniel Pink, author of the book Drive, points out what truly motivates us, and why many of the outdated profit motives are being replaced by the other motives that seem to be valued by society as even more important. His goal was to close the gap between what science knows and what business does. Ironically enough, there is a big gap.
He reveals what many are now asking:
1) When am I going to do something that really matters?
2) When am I going to live my best life?
3) When am I going to make a difference in the world?
Being purpose driven is starting to move into the lime light, which enable organizations to better manage based on the best outcomes for everyone, not just shareholders.
In his summary, he said, “It is in our nature to seek purpose.”
My challenge to you is to consider putting the things that you value back into to the equation to balance your life.
